Dear Mitre Players Theatre Club member,

FOLLIES – Tuesday 19th September

I have purchased a small number of tickets for the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies, which opens at the National Theatre later this year starring Imelda Staunton, Tracie Bennett, Janie Dee, Philip Quast and others. The maximum I could buy as an “Advance Member” was 10, although I should be able to get more (if there are any left!) when public booking opens on 5th May. Full price tickets are £65.00, £57.00, £41.00 and £29.00. There will be a small discount for groups of 10+. The tickets I currently have are in the 3rd price bracket, on the left hand side of the stalls and are £41.50 (including 50p for Mitre expenses).

PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT – Wednesday 15th May (and all that week)

I don’t usually advertise local amateur productions (that would open the floodgates rather!), but I am making an exception for this, as I happen to be the Musical Director! West Wickham Operatic Society are presenting Priscilla at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th May, with Thursday and Saturday matinees. Kevin Gauntlett (Mitres’ director for next year’s Minack show) is directing. Tickets are available at £24.00 through the WWOS website (which is cheaper than the theatre box office). You can book direct, or I could coordinate a group booking which might save you £3.00 if I get at least 10 people. There’s lots of loud pop music, swearing and drag queens – so pretty much like a Mitre rehearsal really!

DREAMGIRLS (20th June) and ALADDIN (19th September)

There were insufficient numbers interested in these, so the trips are cancelled.

FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE – Wednesday 6th September

I still have some tickets available for this revival (apparently to celebrate its 25th Anniversary!) at £25.00 (including 50p for Mitre expenses). It will be at the (not built yet!) Marble Arch Theatre – near Marble Arch!
