Curtains - The Whodunit Musical

Dawlish production dates: Tuesday 22nd to Saturday 26th August

We are delighted that Jo Morrison will be making her Mitre directing debut for our Summer 2017 show which will be ‘Curtains’ by Kander and Ebb. Jo is a very experienced director & choreographer and is excited about the show and the exceptionally talented cast. (Colin Warnock said it was one of the best set of auditions he had seen for ages – everyone was so good!) Jo will be assisted by Tamsin Reeve, who is great at remembering all the dance steps for everyone to copy. The music is very show biz and we are delighted to have our own Mr Music Man, Colin Warnock who will be around for the last few weeks of rehearsals and for the performances.  We are very pleased that Dom Mackie will be in charge of the music during rehearsals.

The fabulously strong cast list looks like this:-

Lt Frank Cioffi      Kevin Hayes
Niki Harris        Hannah Rapley
Georgia Hendricks        Laura Brand
Carmen Bernstein        Katy Reid
Aaron Fox         Paul Grace
Sidney Bernstein        Charles Marriott
Christopher Belling        Peter Calver
Bambi Bernet         Amy Hayes
Daryl Grady         Chris Backway
Oscar Shapiro         Chester Stern
Bobby Pepper         Ziggi Szafranski
Jessica Cranshaw        Tamsin Reeve
Johnny Harmon         Alex Greenslade
Roberta Wooster         Anna Frost
Randy Dexter        Tyrone Haywood

Below is a brief synopsis of the show …….

Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night of a new musical - Robbin' Hood of the Old West. Leading lady, Jessica Cranshaw can't sing, act, or dance and to the relief of everyone, she is murdered during the curtain call.

Enter local detective Lieutenant Frank Cioffi who just happens to be a major musical theatre fan. As the entire company is under suspicion he quarantines the building but whilst they use the time to attempt to fix the show’s problems the body count begins to rise…
Can Lt. Cioffi solve the case, save the show, and get the girl before the curtain rises, and without getting killed himself?

From the creators of Chicago and Cabaret, Curtains is a side splitting, toe tapping show full of larger than life characters that mirror some of our favourite stereotypes from the world of theatre.  A guaranteed good time, with a fantastic line up of talented cast and live band you’d be daft to miss it!
